Terrier database for pedigrees? Is there one?

Recommended Posts

Is there an online source that is typical to the terriers we use? I would like to look others dogs, great breedings and whatnots. Any help? I don't care if the database if foriegn or America but these dogs deserve one if there isn't one.

You are right. It is a nice setup, I have used that site to study old breeding practices that were set by the true old dogmen who were good. Luck is not involved in dogs for the most part, lol but lady luck has shined on me because I do the necessary research before a breeding. The old men of the APBT would even hang papers so people couldn't get the receipe that worked for them. Some my laugh but I could careless, the APBT the real people of these dogs have breed pratices that will rival horse racing, do you think it is luck that wins a horse race or breeding practices that have pin pointed to create better animals. That is the key to the future. I had dogs with a 30 year experience before me, these people deciated their lives to the breed. By researching the breed and their breedings have kept these dogs well above average if not the best from these recorded breedings and the younger dog men who study their ways as if it was a dogman college. Not many hunters will put faith in pedigrees and I agree, the dog makes the paper not the paper makes the dog. But it is no luck when people like Buck, Breay, Booth, Nutall or whoever. The best have reasons to why they are the best. I would love the patterdale breed to be taking to another level.

Saho-man

I would use pedsonline.com but that site is now owned by the PETA / HSUS / or the american government. He sold the site out and got good money for it but no one will claim who owns the site is the sad part. All the good moderators have disappeared and very few use it if they haven't erased their dogs from the database or accts. That site was well designed and kept good people together, there was plenty of idoits but that website changed my life from a good old man I met on there. I wouldn't be here on this site if it wasn't for him. I am wanting to provide a true future and place in history where we have a foundation to these dogs, not hopes and dreams. Many hunters have no idea of the blood they run or how it is bred so how can you produce the future if you have no idea of the present or past.

Can't see the point in it myself. Everyone should know what way they're terriers are bred and if they don't it shouldn't be too hard to find out. A database for pedigrees wouldn't do anything for me, that's what memory and Personnall logs is for. No one can argue with that as you'd be the one that knows best. IMO it would prob cause more arguments than help anyone, then again most people couldn't agree on the colour off shit nowadays do it would suit well with the rest off the bollocks you read if you go looking for it.

Dont see the point myself, might be interesting to look through of a pup thats come from elsewhere, but as soons as its started to work then its irrelavant for a few good years until you consider using it for breeding. However that said, thats just my view, im sure there are plenty that have dogs that they know how many generations from -insert well marketed dog of choice- etc etc, and the dog dont see any work.

the main prob i would see in it would be the peddlar writing up pedigree s to suit whats flavour of the month with the punters paper nener refused ink and a computer sreen does whats typed in a pedigree is only as honest as the man giving it out and the honest breeders in my opinion dont need a data base as the quality of there dogs speaks for itself which in turn is main reason they dont need to advertise as the genuine blokes will know the breeding anyway and prob be gifted a pup free if theres spare imo as for the H O F your spot on there waz ( bred senseless) with pups out of one litter coming with diff pedigree s   make you sick some of the st1t people are at :bad:

Not a single hunter I know breeds working terriers without knowing the parents and background of their dogs. Most of the HUNTERS using them keep excellent records and are very honest. It would make no sense for true hunters to lie about the breeding of his terriers since no money changes hands, Only peddlers or muppets fake peds.

How's it bred and what's its ped entirely different thing , you want peds join the kennel club any working terrier breeding lines are only as good as the memory of the men who wrote them in most cases a long deep breadth and a sigh then mmmmmmmmmm then ahhhhhhhh yes was it ah that's it , lol lol.
