Carraghs Gem 1,675
3 & half hours drive each way to collect my terrier, saying that it took me 6hr round trip just to buy my dog trailer lol Id drive anywhere in ireland for the right pup and I would arrange a courier for a pup in the uk if necessary
Lab 10,979
Probably not very far if i'm honest. I'd like to think that i have a good few friends in certain circles to be able to pick up a pup from good stock pretty close by. But if a dog that i really wanted was 500 miles away then i'd just go and get it....
tomano1 80
as far as the eye can see
Rake aboot 4,935
700 mile round trip for the last one, and have done the same before
lanesra 3,994
done 14 hr round trip , 14 hrs to collect a dog that is dedicated to the job we both love , 14 days would be worth it .
Simoman 110
I think its ridiculous and laughable but folk use the "If only you were closer routine". The right dog is the right dog regardless of distance, you have to feed, kennel, work and live with a dog for perhaps 15 years so surely only an idiot would worry about the distance spent collecting the best pup available? squab 2,875
im sure plenty will say they would travel to the ends of the earth for the right pup but for me id be a bit more realistic if i can do the journey in say 5/6 hours round trip which iv done on a few occasions id be happy at that,as for just saying "if only were closer"on a for sale thread either travel or dont bother commenting to make you look the twat
Lab 10,979
I'd like to see the next person selling a dog call there bluff and say they'll deliver it. Anyway ifi was getting rid of a dog i wouldn't mind getting a look at where its going and where its going to be kept...
scothunter 12,609
Well I don't drive ,but still got a pup brought up from Durham via courier. Then I paid a mate to take me down, for the litter brother. Liked the breeding, and they looked proper healthy pups. In this day and age of couriers, distance is not really an issue, if your gona take the chance without actually seeing them in the flesh .
Moll. 1,770
If you think it is bad with dogs, you wanna try selling chickens. It is getting to the point i would rather cull healthy stock than advertise it!

Ive seen the quality of your stock and it might just be worthwhile arranging for a courier to eire

I would of done it cheaper than the courier, a tank of cherry diesel and I would of been like Colin Mcrae
