Ideation 8,216
Why is beta crap out of interest? And is that any crapper than any dried food? or just crapper compared to barf? Just wondering cos ive reared a couple of dogs on it and never had any problems, with fitness, heath etc.

Good Man 196
was feeding tripe as well but pup kept puking it up plus I found rumen fluke in 1 rumen I was chopping at which was unpleasant Tripe has very little nutritional value anyhow, your better off not feeding it for the trouble you have to go in getting it ready for them to eat ect. years ago, i use to get a load of it from a village butcher that slaughtered his own meat, the dogs were for ever getting worms! This stuff is still warm when I get it straight out of the beast, wont be getting it anymore though, pup really didnt do well on it for some reason... For all the hassle of getting it and chopping it up and the stink of it on the dogs its not really worth it
skycat 6,174
Sheep tripe is disgusting stuff, and full of parasites; much worse than beef tripe. Sheep get more internal parasites than cows partly because they crop the grass so close to the soil and their own faeces which are spread around more than that of cows; so they ingest worm eggs etc more than cows who tear off longer grass with their tongues without contacting the soil Tripe, although lower in protein than the muscle meat from beef, is still a valuable food IMO. It has a perfect phosphorous/calcium balance, not to mention a host of other minerals needed for good health. I feed is as part of a balanced raw diet, get it whole and cut into chunks and freeze. Certainly not noticed any worm problems as a result of feeding beef tripe. Also seen dogs fed purely on tripe and mixer biscuit, and they didn't look in bad nick at all, though I'd not confine myself to just one or two foods: plenty of variety = optimum health.
