Back to the fields of green.

Recommended Posts

Well folks seeing as today is the first day for a while that has not needed a realtree, wetsuit & a spear gun, I decided to pack the gear ant get the HW out.

Got to the permission and got the gear out. Loaded the magazines and started down the track. A slow stalk meant I was able to get a rabbit with the first shot of the day...

Went in the woods and heard the rustling of leaves above me. Following the noise I saw Tufty the tree rat. He got shot number two.

Anyways spent the next couple of hours shower dodging and starting out on another stalk round a collared dove landed on the power lines. It got one in the head, dived off the power line straight into the largest bramble bush it could damn well find. Oh exclamation mark! A stalk around produced a kit, which did not like a smack in the head with a Crosman Premier and promptly went for a swim in a ditch!

Nothing much else showed, so packed up and came back before the predicted deluge at 4pm!

Cracking shooting Mole. Tuftys make for an interesting portion of protein. I normally have trouble describing it as it is quite unique. Yours is pretty accurate. I ate a female that had a distinctly nutty flavour, as you might expect, but not so with the many many others I've dined on.

The skins are tough too. Great little creatures.

Miles the best description I have heard of is Duck crossed with Lamb, explains the mouth feel and taste quite well!

Aha! Thank you. Now I won't come across as a stuttering fool when next asked that question.
