What age dog not pick rabbit up

What age will ur dog refuse to pick a rabbit up at guys ma uncle has a good whippet at 2 year old n wants to take him on lamp but he has never had a run at rabbit before do u think dog would still pick it up cheers

i'd try and gee him up a bit first, maybe let him see another dog chase / catch or even let him see a couple running away from him, that'll let you see how strong the chase instinct is, don't give him a 'dropper' far better to let it happen in the heat of the hunt so to speak. atb
