Each individual should be responsible for their shooting, if you know you cant hit a target at 60yards you shouldn't be trying it, but if you can do it on paper (paper is a must first) then i cant see

Bit offensive telling an infantry lad to stick to potatoes and paper, 25 - yrd rabbits dont come close to the power behind the rifles used on tour at larger targets in wind!

Ummm I must be one of the irresponsible shooters then mate, sorry .   I must have had different military training from you though .   I killed a woody today clean out on camera with a highly tun

Fella ive put 7.62 rounds into humans over 600m, i do however get upset when people give airguns and our sport a bad name by taking chance shots, ive just spoken with a top hft champ and this is his view ''Having competed at FT against the best there is i can tell you a clear round (targets up to 55yds) wouldn't happen very much if those target were all 1" not 40mm (1 1/2") now 1" is too big a kill zone for much of the quarry that might be taken and in FT you get to settle yourself into the best shooting posisions and time to shoot at a vary unaware steel target.

I have yet to meet the guy who can take a single shot without rangefinding every shot and place it within 1/4" of its intended target with a 12 ft lb gun any range up to 55yds. This would give a reasonable garantee on a 1/2" kill zone. Now if you can do this i promise you will win just about everything you enter in FT and HFT day in day out.''

see you at the next round dude :bye:

Bang out of order telling a man who is willing to put his life on the line while you sit at home all cosy that he's a lunatic, have some respect there's no need for that.

I will try make a 70 yard grouping next time im out. it wont be very tight tho LOL

I read this post on the day it was posted and thought that the language that soldier1 used would cause a reaction. But the way i have taken soldier1s comments is that although he is able to shoot a tight group at 40 yards upto 60 yards where he is still able to shoot a half inch group, he doesn't feel at ease to take the shot on a life quarry. Now i admire the hunter that knows his own limits and will not take a shot that he is not sure of a clean kill, and i hope i am one of them.

I am giving soldier1 the benefit of doubt and am guessing that he hasn't or doesn't know how good and accurate modern air rifles are, rather than think that unless you have had the queens training you can't shoot that accurate. Now given time will soldier1 still have those beliefs time will tell.

The thread has gone so far from what was stated in the original post that you would have a hard time to guess what was said.

Each individual should be responsible for their shooting, if you know you cant hit a target at 60yards you shouldn't be trying it, but if you can do it on paper (paper is a must first) then i cant see why you cant do it in the field, you shouldn't be testing your skills on live animals before practicing and knowing what your doing first.

I've seen the evidence that some shooters are more than capable of pulling off long range shots, i however will be leaving that to them until i am 100% sure the pellet will go exactly where i want it too
