my badger dog

Recommended Posts

The dog is a single handed worker by the looks, and going by what ive seen & read he's a genuine dog that you can dig to a couple of times per week, owned by a genuine fella. Whats not to like?

& I think his motivation in posting was to publicly show a dog that works badger as an antidote to....basically a lot of your replies.

I agree

There must be some real talented dog lads on here, able to judge exactly how a dog will work from just one picture, impressive.

I hope some of the people who rattle on about putting bull blood in working terriers will have a good look at the video of that dog working badger. That is the way a good badger dog works in and out does not let the badger pass him or break him up.But he wont let the badger dig on either. That is what old time dogs done and they worked day in day out."

i liked that coming from someone like you, so i remembered it.

i know people with terriers that will stay away from badgers entirely, because if they run in to one their dogs will be laid up for three weeks straight afterwards, everytime.

with my dog i can dig three days in a row with a result, and get away with a few cuts and bruises.

why?do i only find the nice and cudly ones, while they only find the feisty grumpy buggers?

when it comes to killing them or letting them run on, thats a difference in traditions and culture that goes back a long time.

if the population is small, i wont hunt it and moving it would only mean passing the problem over to someone else or having it back in a matter of weeks.

Mart plenty of people dug with dogs like this back then i had one or two myself, they were good little dogs to a point but like i said you had to get down quick and block behind the dog as most would not hold the badger if he ran at them,so for starters they could only be dug in shallow places so you could get to him quick. And yes they were dug day in day out but only in handy spots which suited a lot of people, but that was their common fault.Looking at that dog of yours I think it would let the badger pass(mabye im wrong)He is also getting dug in a very shallow place is this because you do not trust him to dig 10 feet to him?I never trusted them to put them in big places(nobody wanted to dig deep holes for nothing)there was a different style of dog for that. They were good little dogs for a specific job nothing more nothing less.I also found breeding from two of a kind the pups were hit and miss but mostly miss.It is your dog you get plenty of stuff with him so happy days but they have their limitations as all other kind of digging dogs have as well.On the matter of bull blood,no you do not need bull blood in terriers to get good dogs, but some people love it and some people hate it,that is why terriers are so diverse in this digging game(we are all different). On no account go on my opinions they are mine and i have been wrong on plenty of things in life, but i do put my name up in my profile and do not hide behind assumed names, like plenty of people who shout from the sidelines. To the people who hide behind the names with the clever comments,i am very sorry i could not come on sooner with my answer but believe this or not i have a life which does not include sitting on thl all day.One part of my life fortunately involves socializing the other half unfortunately involves working for a living. Two the person who said no dog can hold a badger if it runs at him,if you heard this from somebody else do not listen to them anymore they are talking thru their arse,if you know this from experience you have a condition known as KENNEL BLINDNESS,my prognosis for kennel blindness(if you want it)is Elvis is always looking for dogs of that calibre( i send him the odd one myself)I would seriously consider giving them to him.

I read your 2 previous opinions on Marty's dog and they seemed very different, BUT I sort of agreed with both of them in a way.....work that one out! LOL

Anyway, youve elaborated and it seems to makes sense.

your posts still contradict them selves liam, but i really dont care, the reason for starting this topic in the first place is a lost cause so i´ll just let it go.

the video is three years old and a lot has happend since then.

deepest dig i´ve had is just under 6 feet and i dont think i´ll find anything a lot deeper than that around here due to the lay of the land.

i promise to post about him when he fails.

I'm the person who said no terrier can stop a badger underground.. But thats only if the badger really wants to get out! Shur think about it... A badger is way heavier and stronger than a terrier no matter how good the terrier is.. But this is only if the badger really really wants to get out!

If thats what you think tommy then you obviously have not seen a good dog work badger {pre ban of course}.
