EDguns First Hunt

Recommended Posts

After work i decided to pop over to a local farm to have a look round round and put my new rifle to the test along with my hawke lrf 400 rangefinder.

After a quick zero at 30yards i took a walk round, it isnt a big permission but is quite sheltered which was good as weather is on and off at the minute.

I spotted a couple of woodys in a tree, 40 yards away said the rangefinder which is about a mildot holdover on my scope, so i got comfortable on a gate and aimed it at the woodys neck. I saw the pellet enter the neck at the exact position i wanted and it dropped like a rock into a load of bushes, which didnt allow me to retrieve it, so no pigeon for my tea and no pic for you guys sorry. But very happy with my clean kill.

I soon decided to drive to another farm round the corner, once arrived i had a slow drive round and saw a rabbit hop across some tracks, so i got out my car using some storage containers as cover to creep up behind him, i spotted him and the rangefinder said 30 yards so bang on zero, i used a side of the container as a support and took aim at the kill zone, a split second later he rolled over to white light :)

heres a pic which the shot placement shown
