MoChara 1,632
Personally i wouldn't buy a "guard dog" to "guard my dogs" - they are my responsibility, and if someone is out to steal or hurt them... well least to say - id sit up for nights and nights if i needed to, and i wouldn't stop until the fuckers got the point.. No matter what the f**k needs to be done.. It would be done It's not up to a dog to "protect" another dog. Its up to YOU to do that.

I agree with you any dog which is a danger to kids should be PTS I would never dream of being involved in the rehoming of one. Edited July 18, 2012 by GrCh

Personally i think CCTV and other security devices are more suitable BUT a guard dog, and i dont mean a dog left on a chain to rot is a valuable asset to protect your home, contents, property and family. Your dogs being stolen could happen 365 days year at any time, i don't think sitting inside for the rest of your llife with a can of red bull and some caffiene tablets is a realistic scenario............... I just dont believe in it, as in getting another dog "only" to protect his dogs. Yes by all means a gaurd dog is great to protect home, its contents and family - as an all over form of protection. But im only going by the thread on what was said, i wouldn't get a guard dog just to protect my dogs. But then ive never had the threat of dog thieves before - so in saying that i probably would change my mind, if it did happen to me.. as ive never experienced it
Simoman 110
No i will agree with you their, i wouldn't buy a dog soley to protect my others, unless that dog received the same attention, care, exercise and stimulation of any other dog. CCTV an other option are less work. I have kept and competed with my own dogs and part of their role was to protect me, mine and ours, including the other dogs, trouble is we are ALL at risk of dog theives nowadays..................
