The Duncan 802
What is a Langer? Village in Nottinghamshire I thought.
jigsaw 11,863
Duncan, langer is a localised word.....during world war one(I think)the regiment of the munster brigade fought in Asia for the british army and the most common thing the soldiers saw were langur monkeys. After the war was over, the soldiers would chastise any stupid person by saying the langur monkeys were more intelligent than them or ''they were nothing more than a langur'' hence it stuck as a common insult but not really in an offensive way, only used in cork city might I add, and thats why us corkonians say''ALL THE DUBLIN SHOWER ARE A BUNCH OF LANGERS'' I might add its used in different ways,if some one says something witty knowing full well the statement is wrong he sometimes gets called a langer, lol. so if youre called a langer its not the best compliment but its not an out and out insult either.its meant to be taken as a jovial put down.............UNLESS YOUR FROM DUBLIN................anywhere else is ok
