Digging in Ireland?

Recommended Posts

make the most of it you wont be doing it for much longer when this animal welfare bill gets passed there sell the digging down the river to keep other stuff

without the federation what you say would be true, but i certainly would not dismiss the work people are putting in to keep terrier work alive.

Without the IWTF we're at nothing and as sad as it sounds human nature being what it is the organised groups will throw terrier work under the bus to save themselves, if we're not seen to be united.I was talking about the IWTF to a few different lads at the show in Wexford yesterday and there seems to me to be a lot of paranoia regarding peoples details and the fear of dogs being stolen as well as people not knowing that this bill is even happening. My understanding from what was said at the meeting in the horse and jockey is that only the basic details of each club chairperson would be known to the IWTF and each club member's details would not be shared outside their club.If we don't get organised and get forming clubs and affiliating to the federation and this bill goes through as written you won't have to worry about the off chance of a bad one our own coming to lift your dogs but the certainty of an authorized officer coming and taking the lot.

it sad really im new to hunting and i fallen for it love it and it has changed my life so much for the better and now its practically all being taken away. So its puts me in the situation where i either have to continue hunting when its illegal to do so(and risk jail ect..) or give up hunting and try find something in my life to replace hunting(which i doubht i ever will) in order to keep my life on the good track.I know this is just my individual situation but its only 1persons situation as there is so many more people im sure in similar and even worse situations i just think its really sad to take away man kinds way of life!!!

Get in touch with the IWTF through the website. There are good men from the North on the committee.

Regarding the original question.

It is perfectly legal to use your terrier for fox control in Ireland. There are rules and a code of conduct in place that you should be aware of and stick too.

As for several remarks being made about how loyal other fieldsports are to terriermen ?

In the last few weeks after several meetings, several letters written, hundreds of phonecalls there hasn't been one suggestion made by anyone that some branches of fieldsports are anti terrierwork.

Quiet the opposite in fact.

The support behind terrierwork from ALL other fieldsport sections has been fantastic and most helpfull.

We need to end such stupid talk NOW and leave it at that. End of story.

Also I'm supprised by some of the people above making silly comments and pressing the "like this" button.

Such foolish talk is dangerous.
