Guest Top Chalker
Tyson I think it depends on how the fen dogs are schooled , the dogs up here in the NE are run local and are used to the hedges ,fences , smaller land , and we kill a lot of hares with the dogs we have , but lads that come up with dogs that only run on the big open land do struggle a bit , not all but some , our dogs think they are on there hols when we get on the big land Quote Link to post
celt 1
As a kid the belfast lurcher men used to head to Ardee best place for hares. I used to help net hares for crebilly coursing club and mountain hares around fintona were clever buggers. The ground was awfull and never saw a dog get one on there but then the greyhounds sorted them out at crebilly Quote Link to post

snoopdog 1,256
has any body ever run both irish and brown and there opinion asto witch one is best we have had this debate before luke . the brown hare(lepus europaeus) is far quicker than the red hare (lepus timidus hibernicus) whish is a sub species of the mountain hare which are smaller and slower .......its as simple as that ,,...but the irish will say different Quote Link to post
