tyson 1
good hares in dalkieth and some parts of stirling depends what you meen by good i mean by good is that some hares are soft and 'sit up' for the dogs even if you give em a 100yd slip they still sit up , which results in a easy kill , this does not really test a dog , but some hares go at 110% start till finish and give the dog a good grueller of a course , these races let you see what the dogs made of , obviously hares are softer this time of year but all the same not all dogs can catch a summer hare let alone a winter hare , thats when the fun begins. i know lads with dogs who run continuously through summer and really rate their dogs , but winter comes and they cant even bend em....obviously they blame it on the ground being too hard or too soft  Quote Link to post
Guest SJM
What do you mean when you say sit up, do you mean they sit up when they are out in the field feeding etc rather than being clapped down in the bed? or do you mean they run in that bouncy way with their ears up rather than running full pelt with their ears back ? Guest Top Chalker
Ran hares in every part of the country , and the fen hares are bye a long way the strongest , if you run hares the land can help the hares , hedges fences etc , but most lurchers can kill hares in smaller fields , put them on a fen hare and it all changes !!!!!!!!! Guest wex
has anyone done the hares in somerset ?? I ran them around the Cheddar gorge area, the land is very similar to Altcar. I think the hares are hardest in heavily dogged areas. As the sole survivours are on pins waiting for thier next run.cheers WEX Quote Link to post
