tyson 1 Posted May 26, 2007 Report Share Posted May 26, 2007 Hi Everyone im sure anyone thats run hares has talked about with friends , where the best hares in the country are???and where are the easiest??? obviously it depends on where you have coursed over the years , but a lot of you out there have travelled all over ,right?? personally ive been all over and i know its diffrent horses different courses , but i live in north cumbria so i have no option but to drive , So anyway lets see what you guys think!!! snoopdog 1,256 Posted May 26, 2007 Report Share Posted May 26, 2007 theres good hares allover mate some are easier than others but i think you get good and not so good on all types of land.... southport .....a1 round the thirsk area .....the fens are the prime hares but you get average hares there too i live in the pennines theres some decent hares round me and some average hares .........what about you tyson where would you say theres some half decent hares ..????????????altcar theres some good hares too Quote Link to post

tyson 1 Posted May 26, 2007 Author Report Share Posted May 26, 2007 there used to be a coursing event held at Annan , in SW Scotland , it was held twice a year for years , but my god can the little feckers run there, not the giggest of fields but if you get a good run of a couple of fields , they sort the pups from the dogs cos they can there , but i agree that summer hares should be left cos of them being full of young , alltough i have seen some young leverets spoil many a good dog Quote Link to post
Guest SJM Posted May 27, 2007 Report Share Posted May 27, 2007 Ive been to Annan to watch the coursing there, last time was 98, went with NB and a few of his mates in a minibus, the pisshead commoners standing next to all the posh toffs sipping their champagne and dining from their wicker picnic baskets, we got some looks that would kill that day . It would have been better if it was lurchers rather than pure greyhounds, as theyre nowhere near as good to watch on a hare. Shame this wee event is banned now though Quote Link to post
