Flow 18
Went out last night to zero my new rifle and try to get the feel for it. First impressions are not bad, but not as good as I expected. Its very unforgiving to shoot, if you are remotely inconsistent with the hold the groups shift by roughly an inch over 25 metres, that never happened with my HW97K, you could pretty much hold that how you wanted and still get consistent groups. I should be out again tonight, I will try and get some photos to show you what I mean. Saying that though, I still managed one hole groups at 25 metres. So all in all I'm not too sure about it to be honest, I will give it a few weeks and if I still can't get on with it I think I will buy another HW97K from SFS and get it tuned, it just doesn't feel right at the moment. zini 1,939
If its new Flow it will need to bed in pal. My tuned HW97KT also had the same problem at the start of needing to bed in. The zero shift is normal I believe and due to picking up bad shooting habits when using a pcp. Give yourself a week of springer practice pal and the rifle the chance to shoot a 1000 pellets through it with the brand that suits its barrel the best and it will settle into a brilliant rifle I'm sure. If in a few weeks time you still feel that you cant get on with it and want to sell it, please give me the first shout as i would be very interested if the price is right. Si. 1 Quote Link to post
Flow 18
Thanks Si I planned to put two tins of pellets through it first like you said, then decide from there. I really hope I can get on with it as its a lovely rifle. My brother has first refusal if it doesn't work out for me, if he decides he doesn't want it you will be next in line and I will let you know before it goes up for sale. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though, I think I just need to be a bit patient and see how it goes. Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
give it time flow, get yourself consistant with it and youll fall in love with it mate. i went from a hw80 to mine and it just felt right immediately, but i tried a 97k after settling in with the pro sport and really couldnt get into it at all, i had exactly the same issues that youre having at the mo. i wouldnt be without mine for the world now. cheers, wurz Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Agree with above posts but also consider it may not be the right rifle for you mate, some guns just work so well and others I can't get on with but others can. Go over the 1000 pellet mark and you will know mate. Such a shame if you don't get on with it, that's still the best beech stock I've seen! Quote Link to post
jayjay 264
hi mate, just out of interest, what pellets are you useing through your prosport ?? i bought a prosport a few weeks back, in .177 cal, and the guy in the shop said air arms pellets go pretty well through them.....so i let him put the scope on and he had a few shots on the range at the back of the shop, and i kid you not he was putting a pellet on a pellet, it was only around 18 to 20 yards mind, but i thought it was pretty good shooting for a springer, i could not shoot anywhere near as good as that........ all the best, jay. Flow 18
Thanks for your help everyone. I just put my brothers fixed mag scope on which is very light (a few hundred grams lighter than the Nite Eye) and had a few more shots in the garden, it seems to like being held nearer to the trigger than my HW97K and the lighter scope seems suits it better (for my anyway). Its only 15 yards or so but I managed to get pellet on pellet and shoot a fly. I'm using Air Arms Fields at the minute Jayjay, I've also got some Falcon Accuracy Plus to try out. I will be shooting it a bit more later so will let you know how I get on. Edit: Its a walnut stock Mawders Edited June 28, 2012 by Flow Quote Link to post
Daz 7 563
Hold it Right at the Balance point just where the Checkering starts in front of the Trigger with a Nice grip not to tight though, Practice the same Grip without firing so that it becomes second nature in the aim. Has i'm a left handed Shooter with a right handed gun it feels even more unnatural to shoot, But with Perseverance, You can get one hole groups easy at 30 yards, And with a bit more training out to further Distances. atvb Daz 7. Flow Mate, Give it Time bud, As it's Brand New like mine so not bedded in yet, Also their abit hold sensitive which can be a good thing has you have to shoot it properly, Not like a PCP which anyone can shoot. I'm a Left Hander, So it's even harder to get to grips with it, but through trail and error it will be worth the extra effort, And the rewards for mastering the Prosport is You will be able to shoot any Spring rifle better than before. i've put a quick utube vid up for You i did this Afternoon, My prosport has about 400 pellets through it but still can't decide which is best at the moment. this group was with H & N FTT. atvb Daz 7 1 Quote Link to post
