"LUCKY LERCHER update:

We have liased with the RSPCA & Beech House Vets to bring you an update.

The witness has stated: The Lercher was thrown from a horse trailer that a White pick up truck (Mitsubishi style) with blue decals was pulling. The witness was travelling at 70mph in the slow lane, & the pick up zoomed past him in the middle lane. They at first thought the animal was a foal. The Lercher was in the middle lane & luckily was not hit by passing vehicles. The driver of the pick up did stop, walk over to the Lercher& the Lercher from the shock & pain snapped to attack the driver. So the DRIVER LEFT THE DOG there to die.

The witness pulled over & helped the Lercher & contacted the emergency services.

The Lercher was then taken to Beech House Vets to receive emergency treatment.

The fantastic team of vets & nursing staff immediately attended to the Lercher giving pain relief & sedation to settle from the shock.

We are disappointed to see the negative comments of people regarding the newspaper, blood etc. in the photograph. This was taken by us here at the WAW team a couple of hours after the accident, so that we could raise emergency funds for her medical treatment. It shows that this is a real situation in need of urgent care!

On a postive note:

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR DONATIONS SO FAR YOUR GENEROSITY & WELL WISHES ARE AMAZING & WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL AS THIS LERCHER HAS TOUCHED MANY HEARTS ♥

If you have any information to help catch the cruel driver of the pick up PLEASE call RSPCA 0300 1234 999 ref: 287-26/06/12

We will keep you informed with the Lerchers progress in due course.

THANK YOU xXx"

As I read it, the dog was in the horse box and jumped or was thrown out accidentally?

The driver stopped, the dog bit him, he left it and drove off.
