johnny 2 367
Adding plummer blood to a whippet makes no sense at all Quote Link to post
johnny boy68 11,726
Beddy whippets are tried and tested, why try and fix something that aint broke. A pure beddy will usually stand around 15 tts wwhereas a plummer is what 11/12 plus a beddy throws a much better coat. Don't see the point tbh and the plummer terrier is fecked these days to many people concerned with show types rather than working types imo. the same with beddys why is it you have to go on a waitinglist to get a plummer but you can get a beddy from anywhere You must be another plummer owner who thinks just because you need to go on a waiting list there the best thing since sliced bread, in reality mate they aint all that. There's good ones out there but I bet biggest part of them aint seen feck all. Seen plenty of plummers over the last 30 years mate and apart from a few lads who keep good workers and keep there lines tight the rest weren't worth a wank. Incidentley have you got a plummer dog because if you have what Whippet owner in there right mind would let you near there bitch with it????? Quote Link to post
fireman 10,934
A plummer x whippet could be a grand dog for sure and i'm surprised there's not more about. As for best thing since sliced bread the same could be asked of the minshaws could it not johnny? :hmm:and to be honest most whippet owners i have met a future breeding is always on the cards reguardless of if the whippet is any good or not so bit of bollocks that last statement you make imo.The plummer ain't the best terrier by far but as a bushing, ratting or general all rounder they take some beating and are better than most terrier types at this sort of work, like it or not so x with a good whippet imo could produce a handy little dog. 2 Quote Link to post
chartpolski 24,158
Lee; "Plummer" attracts the same negative, adverse comments that other "types", like "Minshaw", "Hancocks", etc, do on this site ! Probably 95% of the people commenting have never seen these types work, and have only heard or read about them. For what it's worth; I wouldn't cross a Plummer with a whippet, as I can't see what it would add to a good Whippet; but that's just my oppinion, others will have a different oppinion. Cheers. poacher3161 1,766
All this dont cross this with that to produce bushing dogs i find puzzeling as some of the best bushing dogs in over 40 years i have seen have been small type whippet crosses with terriers and other breeds. 3 Quote Link to post

Yes the same could be said about Minshaws, mine just a pup mate BUT if she don't make the grade I'll be the first to say it. This is about crossing a plummer with a whippet, when imo if the plummer was such a viable x and all these whippet owners want the x WHY aren't there more out there Hmmm! I've seen quite a few plummers over the years and you are right they make handy ratting, rabbiting and bushing dogs but as for x'ing one with a whippet imo you would'nt be gaining much work wise than a full plummer would give you. Yes mate your right that's why if I wanted a bushing dog then I'd look for purpose bred dogs rather than throwing a plummer over a whippet. Just think there's better options than plummer x whippet out there. Quote Link to post
darbo 4,776
so only 1% of beddys put over whippets/greys and so on have chased a rabbit. Quote Link to post
