patterdalejoel 669
5 is a good age, its very rare for a ferret to die from being in season from infection, if your hutches are clean it will never happen, also smaller jills dont live as long, nor do bigger ones! sorry for your loss f**k me, small jills dont live long, neither do big ones? how do you know whats big and small? so "medium" sized ferrets live longer? even i know that sounds like bullshit Quote Link to post

THE GRIFF 8
Scrubbing the hutches cant do any harm but i would have thought if it was anything contagious the rest have already been exposed to it,to be honest i think it was just one of those things theres an awful lot we dont know about ferrets the offers there anyway pal, whatever you decide good luck Dave Thanks again for the offer dave, but to be honest I don't want to rush into anything at the moment. As for the rest of the ferrets, I have had them all to the vets today for a checking over and had the other 3 Jill's jabbed. The vet said although not getting them jabbed can cause them to die it was more than likely something else that caused it, a Tumour or suchlike. The Jill that died had no more swelling than the others, she also said if I had gone all summer without the jabs and one died then the cause of death would have had more of a chance of being related to her not being jabbed. Although the castrated hob is a bit thin, other than that they are all healthy, he always looses weight in the summer anyway. And just to correct any misunderstandings, she was not a small jill, I meant she was the smallest out of the jills I have but to be honest theres not much between them, she just had a different build to the others as she was from a different line of ferrets to my other jills. Thanks again for your comments. Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,935
It would be unlikely that a few weeks in season would cause any problems at all. I lost one to anemia many years ago, but it was around August ! so weeks mean nothing. Much more likely to have been an underlying issue. Quote Link to post
