In my opinion the cage is too small even for one canary listen for it singing at the moment it may warble but this could still be a hen once mounted his song will be strong and verile compared to the hen warble which some hens do a good mixed canary seed once or twice a week give some eggfood/greens etc and fresh clean water

like moss and franco said mate, get it out of that cage,no wonder it looks pissed off,get it into bigger cage or an aviary and give it some room to express itsel, and keep your eye on it,it wont take long for you to figure out what sex it is,give it some chickweed, theres shitloads around at the mo and its free and its bloody good for em

No it's not true and if a window is open good bye bird, not sure about budgies but other finches will be fine in a mixed aviary. But like others say bin that rat trap of a cage and the bird will be better for a bit of room and thats a fact for you mate  .

It'll be better with a roof and not so much a house but somewhere they can get out of the wind and drafts is very important,in my aviaries i use artificial xmas tree for cover as well as conifer branches. The xmas tree when they get dirty i just wash it off with hot soapy water and they last for ever, well until the birds wreck them,a bird bath is also important and different feeders in different places so there's no bullying off of food from any of them with each other.I also use natural branches for perches and i just try to set things out as natural a setting as i can.
