forest of dean redneck 11,776
Be carefully putting weeds in as you can end up transferring them or their seeds to the ground you compost. I use grass clippings veg waste unwanted soil and bit of manure.

We even had a teacher, English by the way , who drank a glass of his own urine in class. I can't quite remember what the point of that exercise was but no one was keen on hearing what the homework was going to be for that lesson. On the brown stuff, I certainly wouldn't do that. I know there are restrictions on land spreading sewerage, something to do with heavy metals. Whether that comes from the crap or from other man made crap is another question. Still, I'd rather not eat my breakfast, lunch and dinner twice

MissRhianL 70
my uncle used to dig a trench at the bottom of the garden and throw basically anything down there from banana skins to wall paste lol but cats will have a munch on the paste as i have been told its made with fish - whether thats true i dont know. but anything that would rot would go in there, then later on he would add some compost and mix it into the growing patch. He would also get a bucket and put some horse or cow manuer in with some water and mix it every day its not a pleasant smell really does open ur lungs up but fair play ill give it to him the things that grew in that garden came pretty well
Boysie 12
Does a compost bin need to have an open bottom and be sat on grass/soil? Or could i just use a plastic dust bin and keep turning it so that one week it's upright and one week upside down..?
