there is supposed to be a metal piston sleeve inside the piston so when you cock the gun the cocking shoe dosnt rest against the spring. i bought a brand new hw80k 25 cal from sandwell fieldsports and after about 6 months started having strange noises coming from the gun when cocking and the reason was hw when building the gun forgot to put the sleeve inside the piston so definatly there should be the correct sleeve inside the piston and after fitting was a different gun.

I've got the original sleeve and a wd40 tin in mines and its shooting great.

Thinking of getting a V-glide fitted though, been out with the rimfire alot lately and can't miss within 70 yards, much prefer the challenge from my springer.

Been practicing the artillary hold and its improving my shooting instead of trying to hug my gun to bits.

Its shooting about 22 ft/lbs, zeroed at 30 yards and been knocking the centres out of targets lately, really chuffed with it.

Yeah simple, follow the instructions here on the disassembly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qm1zFkS3Zts.

Sorry for going on about being carefull with the edges of the tin but i've given myself some pretty bad gashes doing this.

Next take your empty tin and cut the top and bottom off.

I use a junior hacksaw cutting slowly and gently.

Cut up along the seam with tin snips to give you a curve rectangle of tin.

Measure the depth of the piston tube and mark this onto the length of the tin then cut the whole tin to this length.

Next bit is trial and error as i've done this 3 times now and been to lazy to measure the finished width of the piston liner.

But a section of ordinary writing paper about 3" long and 1" wide.

bend the paper into a tube slightly smaller than the piston end and insert into the piston to about half an inch, let it spring open to the full width of the inner piston and mark where the end of the paper meets the other end of the paper.

Simply pull out the paper and open out flat.

This now gives you the circumference of the liner which you now mark onto the tin for the next cut.

You should now have a rectangle that matches the length and circumference of the piston.

Use emery paper to buff down the sharp edges.

Hold the tin onto the outer part of the piston and gently roll the tin around to form a tube slightly larger than the piston.

Next lay the piton down and take the wd40 tube and gently roll it a little smaller than the inner tube of the piston as thopugh you were rolling a cigarette.

Slip the wd40 tube into the end of the piston at which point it will spring open to the size of the inner piston sleeve.

With a little bit of jiggery pokery you'll get the new piston liner in all the way to the end of the piston and hey presto assemble the rifle and even less twang than before.

i dont think all hw80 come with a piston sleeve.

no mine never because the idiot who built it forgot to put it in hence the problems i was getting with the cocking shoe grating along the mainspring but if you choose to not fit one the problems i got will soon come along trust me  Edited by kriss

Frodo is a 3 year old much loved staff/terrier.. He has bounds of energy, in fact too much energy and is getting too boisterous for our much older staff.

He was brought in to our home by error as a pup and we just cant give him the time/attention he needs because of work commitments.

would ideally suit a more active life than what we can provide for him..A great guard dog because of his alertness..
Not worked but he is game when out walking in the fields

      Clean,strong, chipped, friendly, home/farm/working dog.
