dont want to throw a spanner in the works mate, but id much rather have a pup from the dam(6/8 weeks old), especially seeing as this will be your first dog, id seriously recomend that ye get a young p

Please be patient and get a decent puppy. There may be nothing wrong with this 13 month old lurcher, but there may be everything wrong with it! Unless you are very experienced ( and even then you won

I think the lad's acting resposibly ! He's asking advice about getting a dog that he probably has expectations of keeping for the rest of it's life ! So he wants to get a decent one, and not peddle it

Right I think we need to give this lad a break. It was us that told him not to get a pup from Hancocks or any of his commercial pup outlets across the globe! Given the fact that the dam and sire were pups themselves. He is now asking for more advice, which is why a lot of us originally joined the site. He clearly is keen to get a pup, but needs to be patient. If I was you Robert, I would start scanning ads everywhere that is your reach, if you find what you're after don't set your heart on it, as you then need to do your research. Some puppies/breeders are not what they seem and will tell you anything to sell a pup. Check that the pups are healthy, clean, well cared for and look at the parents so you can work out if the end result is what you are after. Even take somebody that has more experience to look over them. I took well over a year to find what was right for me, believe me it was time well spent. I kept going back to the pups to get them used to me, this may not be practical in your case, but I am sure it helps the pups settle in if they know you and trust you. I hope this helps and if I am thinking of somebody else sorry!

I'm sure your not 'having a go' as you say, I just think the lad had a bit of hard time in his last post and is just looking for (help).
