Law on using a air rifle on permission at 15 years old (northern ireland)

hello i have a question about using an air rifle on permission, so say i have permission and my granda will let me use his air rifle can i go down and shoot on my own or does he have to come with me ? im 15 as stated in the title and also in Northern ireland so i think the law is different in england.. ?

 

i just really want to get out doing some form of hunting so thought this would be good especially if im thinking about getting ferrets as this will hopefully help fill the freezer for them

 

and do farmers prefer if you start shooting in the summer to put the numbers down as if they do i could always add in i could start in the summer even just taking the bigger ones so hopefully they would let me ha

Dont you need a licence for an air rifle (or any rifle) in northern ireland, so if your grandad lends you his without him being there im fairly sure that a law will be broken.

 

However if you are under his supervision i am fairly sure that its fine for you to use it.

 

As for the age old question of when to shoot rabbits, that depends on what you have been asked to do, farmers tend not to want rabbits on there crops so you will be fine shooting them all year round, but if your looking for a place to shoot rabbits with good numbers id leave them alone in the breeding / birthing seasons and let the numbers recover.

ahh cheers mate fair enough... just thought as-long as i was on my own permission and someone owned the gun who had a licence n all that i would be alright but that why i came on here to find out

Get your fac and buy a rapid putting out over 30flbs that should see you right, I guessing if you have your fac for an air rifle you could have it putting out any flbs you wanted. I'm sure someone will comment telling me I'm probably wrong though
