Malt 379
You're forgetting, the likes of Jimmy car probably earns a a damn sight more than the likes of us plebs. His 1% tax he was paying is probably more than enough to cover what he and his family costs the government. Not to mention the amount of vat he probably puts into the system through the purchase of expensive luxury items he can afford to buy as well as the multitude of ways he pays the government in taxes and duties. He's probably still putting more into the system than 100 of the average members of this site do in a year.. Rake, no offence but I get the impression that you are someone who pays a hell of a lot of money out in tax a year and your posts come across as being bitter rather than based on morals... I believe the figures quoted in the media are £3.3M which at 1% tax is £33K. Now personally I would think that just about covers him? But I'm no expert on tax. I don't think it's right that someone can get away with paying such a small percentage of their income in tax, despite the relatively large value, when the average man pays a much larger percentage. But it would'nt stop me doing the same! I would probably just give 50K to charity if I suddenly had an onset of guilt, LOL. Road tax don't pay for roads?.....well what's it for then?......surely if I am being sold something it's illegal to call it something else? Isn't that fraud or deception? What I think is " fair" is to only pay the exact cost of the things I use, not a penny more. Oh and a small contribution for those who need state support ( our own people by the way, not every Tom, dick and Harry from all over the world) Edited June 22, 2012 by WILF

I'm not saying its right but you can't expect people not to take advantage, I reckon most of us would given the chance. Its the system at fault. I bet there's far worse than Jimmy Carr out there in the long grass..

baw 4,360
Aye b*****ds changed it cos they weren't fixing the roads. It's the motorist that keeps this country going. Tax to the government, fines to the police, f*****g joke. I can't believe anybody would frown upon anyone tax dodging. Every other c**t is screwing the system, the top and the bottom. About time us middle men done it.

baw 4,360
Don't think Carr had an unfair advantage over his opponents. Different scenarios scothunter. I could see the point if rangers did it to survive but they didn't. They did it for an unfair advantage.
