Am I right in thinking these are pretty intelligent dogs too when it comes to working?

I know people say they are thick and that's not true. I think people mistaken their stubborn streak for being thick...

I think you got a better chance of getting genuine worker to worker, proper tested stuff out of the coursing lines, than buying scatter breds or first x's. I have a beddy x grey purpose bred for the lamp and she does a fair do on all game (no bad day time either), but she is easily outperformed by both the pure saluki and the coursing x's we have, the saluki was put on the lamp last year for the first time and within a couple of sessions had mastered all game on lamp, by stamina alone he would easily catch more rabbits than the beddy x, he a big lump the saluki 27" takes rabbits all night long. Both pure and crosses hunt up freely during the daily walks and hunt and ctach game no worries and were I live the fields are the smae size as Ireland, good dogs do it anywhere, the rest sadly are just not good enough or aint been bought on right, to many are too quick to blame the dog , stud, breeder, but rarely put the required time in.
