Brick Built Kennel

Recommended Posts

Tomo: don't you find they tip their bedding over the edge? I do like the look of those beds, but I'd be tempted to put a raised side so the bedding doesn't slide off.

i to use raise bedboards but i use shreaded wax paper in the winter so i have added a front edge to keet the paper on the board, there on carpet for the summer now

Hard to beat a block built kennel. Cow mat cut to size makes great bedding. Carpet tends to get wet and dogs lying on wood all the time tend to stink! Also if you can get a pipe rigged up to the sewer or septic tank and a hose it will make cleaning the pen real handy. Atb Mark

Tomo, mines similar to your set up, but I had to build 3 separate sleeping boxes as my old dog is very protective of "His" run and won't share a sleeping platform. The down side is I've had to use more than one heat lamp because of this.

TOMO and Paulus thems two great set ups, it crossed my mind about getting raised beds, but the bedding being thrown down sort of put me off .. But since reading this its changed my mind, i will be doing it now.. CRACKING looking dogs to the both of you's aswell :toast::victory:

I have my two in a run at the minute, but have a garage that needs clearing out, so might move them in there.

Gareth_Daniel.. good luck on doing the brick kennel

Thanks MoChara and others for replies.

I cant decide wether to put up the Galv run as big as possible (probably 24' x 6' or there abouts) then divide it into 2 runs and put a smallish brick kennel in at each end and kennel dogs seperate or just have it as one massive run and then have it backing onto garage and house the dogs in a quarter of that (double garage).

Might be pushing my luck next year when i get a pup - housing 3 dogs together but we will see. My lurcher and terrier are like the best of friends... for now :-)
