03milesR 6
hello everybody got a slight problem that is just starting to bug me, on the far end of the wooden forend (nearest to the sight end of the barrels) the black has going and is showing just bare metal, is there anyway to stop or fix this or is this just something that happens, its not the most expensive gun in the world so i dont want to have to spend hundreds on fixing it, thanks in advance Rikki Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Firstly, make sure you keep a decent layer of oil on the metal when you put the gun away, bare metal is likely to go rusty at a frightening rate. What gun is it? Is the black a traditional blueing (chemical or heat treatment of the outside of the metalwork that turns the metal a dark blue/black) or is it a paint type coating? You can get the barrels re-blued. It's not cheap, but if you get it done well it shouldn't wear out. You can also buy bluing chemicals that will fix it to a certain extent. The result depends on how well you prepare, and how much time you spend on it. A chemical job will not really match a proper heat blueing. Quote Link to post
