remi700 99
Been fly fishin pike for a good few years now. Had a 13lb from a float tube a few years back. Pulled me round the lough for about ten minutes! For making traces I use knot melt wire. Never seen it fail yet and I make my dead bait and trolling traces from the same stuff. I use clips like these for the ends of the traces ( not exactly the same ones but not far away) http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Terminal-Tackle/Swivels-Snaps-Clevises%7C/pc/104793480/c/104779980/sc/104616180/SPRO-Split-Snaps/1323156.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-terminal-tackle-swivels-snaps-clevises%2F_%2FN-1100372%2FNo-0%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104616180%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253Bcat104793480%253Bcat104779980%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNP%26recordsPerPage%3D48&WTz_l=SBC%3Bcat104793480%3Bcat104779980%3Bcat104616180 1 Quote Link to post

remi700 99
This is the stuff. Just give it a few twists and burn it quickly with a lighter. 1000 times better then crimped trace. I put a bit of shrink tubing over the joint afterwards and give it a little heat too. Never seen it break! http://www.fishingmegastore.com/dennett-melt-knot-wire~9511.html 1 Quote Link to post
northern lad 2,292
Used similair stuff years ago Remi, only snag was,the pikes teeth chafe the plastic coating allowing the wire to rust,is this still the case ATB Dave Quote Link to post
U.L.D.A 289
that wire trace gear looks the ticket Quote Link to post

remi700 99
Never seen it rust. I put a sleeve of shrink tubing over the joint about 3-4 inches so maybe this stops it from gettin chafed. I think it must be stainless wire. Atb Mark Quote Link to post
