1888andybhoy 7
Hi there, I'm getting things ready around the pen for the poults coming at the end of next month. Getting the electric fence rigged up and tested first. This is the first year I'm trying an electric fence. I've got 2 wires set round the pen 15 cm high and 30 cm high and 20cm from the chicken wire. I'm not using one of those new fankled energisers I am going to use a 12 volt car battery. The problem I'm having and don't understand is how to attach the wires to the battery. Do I put one wire on positive and one on negative. Or join the 2 wires together or what. Can you explain how to set up an electric fence from setting the wire to turning it on please or a diagram please I'm at a loss here. Many thanks to anybody that can help me it will be much appreciated. Andrew. Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
You WILL need an intermitent energiser You cam not have a permanently live fence , if your stock touch it they cant release from it and will be killed , if using an energiser. There isnt enough power in a standard car battery to power a fence to control stock , all you will do is build a resistive circuit that will flatten batterys very quickly. Quote Link to post
mally 832
You have to use a fence unit mate, the positive goes on the fence and the negative goes to ground (you'll need a steel rod knocked in the ground) You will need to link the top wire to the bottom wire so both wire are live. If i was you i would move the wires so there at least 12" away from the pen. Hope this helps Quote Link to post
