quick 1/2 hour out +48 yrd crow

Recommended Posts

Since getting back from this years THL meet i've been itching to get out and put some of the new technique's i'd learnt there into practice.Unfortunately the weather had other ideas. This evening i was reading the forum, Daz7 was single handedly keeping the magpie population in control, and AR177 was all over the country gaining new permissions and having good sport on the rabbits, well in lads  .So went up stairs looked out the window at the field opposite and there was rabbits all over it.That made my mind up for me grabbed the gun, range finder and a few pellets and headed for my local permission (2 min drive). On pulling into the drive a rabbit was feeding on the owners flower beds, but disappeared before i got out of the car.Walked round to the back garden and another 2 rabbits disappeared into cover, looking good for me as i have never seen rabbits in the gardens.I then started to walk the field and couldn't believe how long the grass had grown, standing shots were the only option.Walked up slowly to a place that usually has rabbits feeding,2 had heard me and were sat heads up slowly raised the gun cross hairs on the head ,shot was taken and missed, just over. The noise of the pellet hitting the ground spooked rabbits in the longer grass and made them run into the shorter grass and sit up to see were the noise was coming from.Again i slowly raised the gun ,took the shot and heard the unmistakable sound of pellet hitting skull .That was the only one i got as this permission is only small and once iv'e walked round once it tends to scare the rabbits for a while, but saying that i did see about 15 rabbits so another trip is in order very soon.ATVB.....Ste

Good on you for getting out Ste bud  .

Lovely shot placement too pal, especially for a standing shot :toast: .

I'm out tonight with Davy and Charlie shooting bunnies for a golf course owner who wants them thinning out down in Wiltshire.

Got the HW97KT packed already :D.

Had a quick walk with it last night and tested it on a pigeon and a tasty dove for the pot  . Caught all on camera too ;) .

Report and video hopefully from the golf course in a few days time.

Nice to see that one can still miss a bunny or two even with a state of the art beast such as that

Nicely shot Ste, :victory:

I didn't get chance to have a look through your scope at the meet, but from what I gather it has twice the field of view at a high mag? Very useful for target aquasition  I've been trying to imagine how it looks does it look like erm say 50% smaller target at a set magnification? (Sounds dumb but I know what I mean even if others don't!).

Cheers Dave, was hoping to get out today being my day off,not stopped persisting down all day.I think the crow was only young because i was sat in the field when it landed in the hedge, shot another one of camera 15 min later. The forestry were felling pine trees so probably disturbed a few nests..ATB.Ste
