Newbie with a question

Hi there im new to running lurchers an gt wat i was told was a saluki grey x collie grey but i belive hes a sal/grey x whippetx hes 11 month n 23tts n wanted him to do a bit of everyhing lamp day ferreting retriveng but ive been told a dog this size is sutible for bunnies only but met a gut with a whippet n takes roe n charlie should i jus keep putting time in n hope for the best or am i wasting my time im quite attached to kane (my pup) n happy with progress jus wanted advice on guys who had a good few seasons n dogs under there belt n p.s dnt want any smart arse comments cause im a newbie

First rule of being a newbie, try and sort the wheat from the chaff and dont listen to idiots

stick with what you have and dont bother with roe or fox at the end of the day its ilegal good luck

First things first, taking anything but rabbits and rats would be illegal.

 

Second thing - a 23" dog of the right calibre should be capable of doing most things, although may not be a specialist in certain fields.

 

If you are attached to him and he makes you happy, what more could you ask for?

A decent 23" dog will do all you need. You'll find as you get more into the game that some people, shall we say, exagerate their dogs prowess !! LOL !! Good rule of thumb is "believe nowt you hear, and only half you see" in the Lurcher game !! Good luck with your dog

Thanks very much guys im enjoying putting the effort n time in to the pup and cant wait to see how he turns out any advice on getting him in top condition for september i take him road walks for swims and he follows the bike

i had a 23" collie whippet and she would do every thing out there, good luck with him hope all turns out well

23 is a cracking size, if he/she don't do everything itself well don't be to disheartened
