very nice mate, can not believe the difference between the start and finish, also mate any tips on the reblue of barrel. i have a bsa spitfire from a mate thats in a sorry state so looking to tidy it up i fine with the woodwork but no idea of re blue.

The blueing process can be hit or miss..... The way it is now was my second attempt at getting it right, its all in the preparation, you need to make sure the metal is spotless and grease/oil free.

I found I get the best results with Bisley Cold Blue, but I heat up the metal instead of applying it cold.

Very nice mate, well done

I'm thinking of restaining my tx200 , what oil did you finish it off with,, walnut oil ? Or Danish oil?

Atb chris

Its Tru-oil Chris, ass 2 coats, leave to cure, buff with 0000 wire wool, add 2 more coats and so on till youre happy with the finish

Nice Darryl .....you need to do a vid of how you go about bluing i am sure it is of interest to quite a few people

I'm not that good at it to do a video Dave, there are plenty tutorials on youtube though ;) ;)

depends what you mean by pitting mate, if it's just surface rust then fine wire wool or scrunched up aluminium foil & gun oil

If its eaten right into the metal then you'll need to either kurust it & fill it or take it back to bare metal and polish it out
