Now that's first class customer services

Recommended Posts

Hi lads,

Just a little tale from yesterday telling people what great customer services you get from Sandwell Field Sports.

Well for all those that attended the Hunting Life Charity June meet you will be aware that my SFS tuned HW97KT had run in very well over the 2 or 3 thousand pellets Ive put through it since new.

So well that it had actually settled at 13 foot pounds so was illegal to use and shoot with on the day in the HFT comp.

Anyway yesterday i phoned up Tony at SFS and informed him of the situation and he said bring it straight in Si and Ill sort it for you there and then.

Off i drove then to SFS where I met Tony and John again.

Tony asked what pellets Id settled with and I told him Webley Accupells. Tony then chronoed the rifle with those pellets to find it actually now doing 14 plus foot pounds :icon_eek: . He says wow this has bedded in very nicely it so consistent as well.

Anyway Tony stripped in down and took coils off the spring to take it to between 10.9 and 11.6 as I had asked him but he still wasn't happy with a noise I could not hear but he could coming from the rifle when cocked.

Umm I thought as I saw Tony throw my spring in the bin with a loud clunk :cray:.

Tony goes on to say "sorry Si but if the rifle isn't 100% perfect in every way I wont give it back to the owner. It needs to be how I would have it if it was my own or it stays with me till it is" :icon_eek::toast: .

Next out comes a brand new spring and in it goes, all lathed to perfect dimensions only fitting my rifle. Tweaks here and tweaks there and then back to the chrono.

Tony had some H&N at 5.53mm head size that he set the rifle up with this time and they fitted a treat after what ever Tony did.

11.6 now, cocks even easier than before and the recoil is very low to say the least, them 4 extra foot pounds in cocking and recoil do make a huge difference in shooting smoothness I can tell you.

Well I say "what's the overall shot to shot consistency between shots Tony" thinking 5 to 6 would be a good reading. "1 to 2 Si some are the exact same though" Tony says :icon_eek: WTF, 1 to 2 with a springer :boogy: .

Well next we went back up to the 20 metre range where both me and Tony managed 1 pellet hole sized 1 hole 3 shot groups pretty easy.

I thanked Tony for his superb services and off I went.

Half way down the motorway Tony phones me on my hands free and says Si I have been speaking to John and if you want you can send me the rifle next week and Ill do a full stage 2 tune on it for you which will almost make it a recoil free rifle (less for a slight bit) as its so well bedded in and consistent FOR FREE as you have done so much for us and sent so much work our way in the past, we want to say thank you to you.

Yes please I say and a real big thank you to you both.

Well off I went to the indoor 25 metres range to properly zero the rifle with the H&N FT pellets at 5.53mm. 5 shots later and its pellet on pellet (PCP style  ).

I then go out side and put up a volvic blue bottle top at 63 metres on a tent peg just to see how many shots it would take to hit it with the springer.

X6 mag and 4 mil dots hold over.

First shot the bottle top flies through the air and lands on the tarmac.

Safe back stop still (garage wall) and I aim again this time its laid flat so even harder to see and hit.

Second shot the bottle top flies again through the air :icon_eek::toast: . That will do me I think.

Anyway I goes home happy and Tony phones me around 1800hrs again asking how the rifle performed and am I happy with it as he wanted to make sure all was well (proper good services yet again).

I tell him its amazing and even better than before to which he seems happy.

He even invited me and Laura over to his for a meal and drinks one weekend.

You cant beat this kind of customer services and care can you lads?

Photo is with the rifle now fitted with a Twink MK 2 silencer which makes it very quiet.

Hi Elliott,

Yeah, its just fantastic pal.

As soon as I get it back from the stage 2 in a week or 2's time Ill be doing some vermin control with it and putting the results up on the channel.

I'm also using it next week when shooting with Davy down in Wiltshire.

They are just so good to shoot mate. I'm sure you will love yours when you get it.

hi Si

that is very good customer service buddy

I just wonder if he would take a look at my TX,as I personally think there is still something a miss with it, I suspect the piston rod is slightly bent, and the only way to find out would to put it in a lathe ans spin it

so may give him a call.

Yes i bet Tony would be able to do something with it pal. Maybe even make new parts for it for you.

I may have a drive up to see him instead of posting the rifle.

Could go up together.

Hi Simon, been watching a lot of your vids on YouTube and there great mate. Nice to see someone hunting with a springer aswell. What stage do you have on your hw97? I use a b&c button hw97 in 22 and a fx verinator. Looks like your getting on well with sfs and getting great customer service! But for mr davey, solware do tunes on tx200s you can short stroke them aswell which they will do. All their works is done through Dave hall like but there nice chaps like. Keep the vids up both of you! Atvb rob

Si I keep meaning to email Tony to ask a few questions but maybe from your experiences with SFS you can answer.

Does Tony custom tune the HW95K with the same work you had done on your 97 when you purchased it? Wanting a 95k and thought of I ordered from them then he could do a tune straight out of the box before giving it to me. I need to find out how much he is selling the 95K for as well.

Thanks for the info mate.

I'm sure Davy will be interested.

My HW97KT is stage 1 tuned buddy but its getting stage 2 at the end of next week.

Ive never shot or even seen a rifle at stage 2 but from reading up on it and speaking to Tony Wall there is quite a lot of work involved in it.

Something is done to the rear of the action too which greatly reduces recoil and improves accuracy greatly :icon_eek: .

That I really need to see as its spot on at the minute mate and it takes targets at the same range as my HW100 S does.

Yes he certainly does do mate.

Ive had one off him myself straight out the box then tuned to stage 1.

He says its the best rifle that HW do that he works his magic on.

I got a .177 HW95K off him in 2009 and he tuned it for me and I took some very good shots with it in Catterick especially on woodies and rabbits at well over 50 metres.

As all my rifles though it went due to various personal issues.

I also had a Spectra Carbine off Tony too which was a highly tuned springer with thumb hole walnut stock.

For me you just cant been SFS mate.

I know people who as gone into his shop with a lot of money to spend on a rifle £700 to £1000 and Tony as talked them out of a £700 plus rifle and sold them a £300 Ultra because it was better for their needs.

Where and who else would do that?

Si.

I think he machines a rear guide actually into the rear block. But don't quote me on it. Lol yeah fantastic rifles hw97s mine has a cs700 type style hft stock. I'm sure yours will be nice specially with stage 2. Does he button pistons at all aswell do you know? Atvb rob

Too technical for me Beagle sorry pal.

I just shoot them and don't really know much about the internals buddy.

He did say something about a guide in the back of the action.

Its supposed to be good what ever he does.
