suffolkpoacher 219
My ferret courts bigger than that mate, it's going to be a right pig to clean out too. My runs are 8x6, 6x6 and 6x4 all 7'6 high with a roof on, also have concrete runs as the paving slabs stink in the summer. I also have galvanised run sections and the side of the shed is covered in galvanised steel sheet to stop the dogs biting the wood etc, makes washing down much easier too, plus the piss can't soak into anything and start to smell. He is asking what you think not what have got Quote Link to post
B.P.R 2,798
Fair play go the Graft and effort you've put in but as said I would make a few amendments. This is mine below and it cost me 400 notes and I still aren't 100% happy with it and plan to make a few amendments when I've moved house next month... I want to raise it all round on 2/3 breeze blocks and bolt it to them to add stability, get the wood off the floor and to make it tall enough to stand up inside and then put drainage in. I want to replace the mesh. I want to put a 6" board across the bottom of the door flap to keep the bedding in better and put a door flap on to keep any bad weather and draft out. And I want to put galv chew strips all around the kennel entrance where the dogs have eaten it All the best. Gaz So mine aren't the only tw@ts! I got a kennel around 4 weeks ago, it's not the biggest tbh for the 3 dogs but they stay inside all the time and the kennel is for when they're wet, when we have a BBQ to stop the hungry b*****ds getting a boot for nicking food and when we go out so were not rushing back. So I got it, put it up and then painted it. Looking smart! The fooking pup has been on w chewing mission, no amount of bones, toys, chews etc has deterred her. I've bought strips of steel from b&q and put them up on the main edges but then she finds a new spot which is now the door. Looks a right fecking mess and I've got OCD so doing my nut in. Going to have to buy more steel edging on Saturday and by the time I've finished it will be 50% metal I also move house soon. 7weeks and my kennel is just on slabs for now. Only got it now to get them used to it. It's going on breeze blocks at the new place, there's drainage already there (perfect to run through back of the kennel). Breeze blocks will keep the wood off the floor and add an extra foot or so in height. Good luck to you Gareth. I'm in exactly the same boat as you. Pissses me off that I can't do it now or make it how I want it. Atb Quote Link to post
BLACKWATER... 157
beter keeping wood of floor even a band or one course of brick on the flat or two course of engineering brick sqaure your kennel up and Draw a teM plate with the frame , either that if you want to go cheap get dpc and staple it to bottom runners AND PACK IT OF FLOOR , BUILDING KENELS NEXT TO GETTING GOOD DOGS IS PRETTY IMPORTANT, if your going take the dog game serously Edited June 22, 2012 by BLACKWATER... Gaz_1989 9,539
Thanks bunnys. You are right. They have half eaten it already. I've decided to scrap it once I've moved house in the next month or so and build a brick kennel with Galv panels for the run. No wood! Haha. Quote Link to post
