spooked a partridge what spooked a buck ,

today started with dropping my daughter off at grand mas and had the drive to weed and scrape and dogs to walk but after that decided to inspect one old cover crop (poachers leave it ) and 3 new crops, just because ive been to busy to help out on working days on the shoot , so off i trot with .243 thinking half 1 nowt about but just incase ,1st crop last years doing well and saw movement so got rifle up to look at it and its a buck ,so walked 30 yrds under the height of the crop and crawled through the thick and hey presto cross hairs on a clean buck and a lovely summer coat but the buck had a limp and looked thin, just got it broad side on and a bloody partridge headed straight for the buck which in turn was nt keen to stop, so i regrouped and went into wood a long way round ,thinking it may have gone further and next thing i nearly walked into it lol them it did finally bugger off . how well they are camo'd up even in summer coats also i had the 6 th senth to look to my left cos i knew something was nt quite right ,that is a weird feeling ,like been watched

a bit boring story but got my heart thumping having it in the cross hairs

do you not scope with binos before using the rifle scope?

i was just mooching thinking nothing would be about ,using bino s yest would not have gave me an advantge as it was close anyway i just lifted gun to see if male or female??
