theferreter 311
yes mate is there a problem cheers DM problem me thinks so why breed of a ferret who was only out a handfull of times Quote Link to post
tegater 789
I am obviously missing something here, but DM has said that they are his wifes. Loads of people breed ferrets that have only been out a few times, and some that have never been out at all. Unless he is stating that they have come from working stock, what is the problem? Again I will say I might be missing something, as I have never got involved in EU threads. Quote Link to post

Malt 379
who fooking cares there are some ass wipes on here. always slating not knowing the facts and not reading threads properly etc In fairness this isn't a one thread issue or about working animals.. If prices, offers and requests start appearing in this thead it's getting shifted to the sales section. Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
DM i am intersted in the capabilities of the offspring. Not in owning one, i have enough blood and contacts to keep the blood, but really interested if they have any better working traits that show up, like handling and picking up, hunting up, or kill-ability? I personally would not breed down this avenue, but am always interested in any trait that it can offer or improve if the graft proves an animal is worthy thats all. A good ferret is something that most wont appreciate, it can come from any breeding stock, and 50 percent wont know what i mean. Any info on any of the traits feller? 1 Quote Link to post

Any info on any of the traits feller? brimmer,, i got 2 eu polcat crosses last year,,, they are 50 ,,50 cross,,, i was kindly kiven them gratis from skycat and her fella last summer... now let me just say im always sceptial about pure polcats and weather they are in fact "pure" in fact i still am.. but whatever these 2 ferrets are,, they worked from the OFF, had a hob to ground in a small shallow warren , he had one boltled up,,, put the eu jill in thinking it would find the hob,,,,,no she went and boltted another first,,, and then settled on the stop ender with the hob.. she took to the game like a seasoned pro, as did her sister,,, they are both very tame and well handeled,, a credit to skycats fella. the only reason i got these two ferret/crosses, was i lost 3 liiters of kits last year,,, and only had 5 workers ,, all starting to get long in the tooth. 1 Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,026
can i just add,,,,, and i will get some stick here... i have a litter of 11 kits off one of these jills,,, now this was a genuin accident,,yep i know no will belive me,,,, but i had all my jills still in the court with the hobs,, i was checking them daily,,,, the vulvas had just started to swell,,, and i found the bew/silver hob,, stuck up her,,,,doh,,, belive me im not one for mating ferrets will nilly or until there a few seasons graft behind them.. lesson lerned ferrets can get pregant when they have just started to show obvilously i took the hobs out,, and watched her ,,, yep 6 week later kitts are now 7 week old on sunday,,, 3/4 ferret 1/4 polcat,, all polcat coloured Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,751
I've also had a few poley cross kits last year from Penny and Andy. I found them all a little slow to start but by January the two jills were really impressing me. They just worked better than the majority of other jills I have seen, more commited i suppose I would say. The hob is decent but no better than others I have worked and his temperament is more 'skitty' although he is much more relaxed when working. I'll admit I should really have spent more time handling him but that's just hindsight. Early days yet but I'm happy. Looking forward to this season with them. Quote Link to post

Just out of interest lads and to hopefully prove a point about people who actually work these animals, how much would you guys be selling any excess kits from these for? Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,026
cant remember the last time i sold a kit,, i preffer to give them away hopfully to friends or at least lads i hope will look after them.. of course saying this i think ferrets are to easy to get for free,,,, and it might be good if ferrets were worth a lot more..... trouble is i kind of contradict myself by giving them away :icon_redface: how many do you want malt,,,,, 1 or 11 2 Quote Link to post

Just out of interest lads and to hopefully prove a point about people who actually work these animals, how much would you guys be selling any excess kits from these for? Well, I have'nt bred any and most probably won't unless I find decent kits hard to come by. I've just had the hob snipped to bring all my jills out of season. Tbh if i did ever breed I would give them to those that deserve them and any excess would probably be given to decent lads that I hope will treat them with a bit of respect. At the end of the day a ferret is a fecking ferret, I don't say to folks hey look at my eu poley crosses, I say look at my ferrets. Makes no odds to me. Quote Link to post
