Funny what kids come out with,

 

Was with my lad the other day shooting, he only has opensights on his gun so was talking to him about getting him a scope, he replied yee cool.

 

i then mentioned if you find this okay i might see about a pcp for you in the future.

 

he stopped shooting and looked at me and said yee dad that would be great. He then paused and said but dad wouldnt that be a bit borring

 

hitting the target all the time.

I looked at him and wanted to burst out laughing thinking how clever he was to come out with that, I chuckled to my self and thought well son that might be true. what a cracker !!!!

 

Kids ay, how funny they are

 

so plinking with a springer is teaching him something well done son

Shooting with a springer is so much more rewarding mate...seems your kid has that sussed already....good on him......i never want to move to the darkside i will stick to my springers

 

I think that no-one should move onto live quarry with a pcp until they can do it with a springer......more about your marksmenship with a springer or im maybe old fasioned lol

 

 

Sorry not just springer but what i meant to say was recoiling rifle

i am turning slowly back to playing with my springers theres just something, like you say, rewarding. when you pull the trigger.

 

Im real proud of my lad. seems to handle the recoil well

as for the quarry side of it your right Stevo good statment bud

He has hit the nail on the head there! I thought moving to pcp would fulfill my needs but instead left me wanting a springer again. It's wrong really, pcp should be better in every way but it just leaves you feeling empty I think. I will get another springer one day. Wish I had one now just can't afford it.

good on the the lad i went back to spring rifle,s after useing pcp,s and it took age,s to get used to them again . so credit,s given where credit,s du top mark,s to the lad atb.mac

Dont get me wrong pcp's are fine ive shot a few of my mates but i never get same buzz when dispatching a rabbit at 40yds than i do when i do same with spring rifle......Love your kids statment.."Wouldnt that be boring".....lol

I wish pcp never came out, springs should be all we need! I'm so toying with the idea of selling up and going back to spring!

PCP's are boring as hell.

 

My brother had an S400 for a while, very nice rifle but it was almost like you were cheating, it was so easy to shoot.

 

I'm pretty convinced that a decent springer is all you need, and they are much more satisfying to shoot.

I dont know the feel and the buzz you get from a springer just feels so much better than from my pcp you just cant describe it really and so satisfying, your right a good springer is all you need, talking to my mate today about them he loves his i said you just cant help it can you when you fire that shot the recoil the sound the prediction, the having to cock it, is so much MORE of what its all about.

this is why i love my lad doing it old school, your right about that brilliant

hi bud what every one seems to forget is that at one time every one that shot air rifles shot springers becouse thats all there was there were no pcp,s around tell your lad to stay old school atb mac

Indeed mate.......a decent spring rifle will match any PCP in the right hands.....multishot pcp's are ideal for quick fire ratting but for bunnys that come in singles then its a springer for me lol.....i sound like fkin victor meldrew lol

My only beef with springers is they are on the heavy side for the more decent ones such as the tx, prosport, 97 so on. If I went back I would try and get me a hw95k which are a bit lighter and I think more point able. Coupled with a light weight smallish scope. If I had a springer to go with my pcp I reckon the springer would be used alot more often!

Sometimes I think though that the weight is a help. I have a BSA supersport that hardly ever goes out and doesnt group that well for me, but when I borrow my dads HW35 which is about 30 years old and never had much done to it, it is as accurate as anything. The extra weight just makes it feel better for me.
