This lad broke his hok in his second season ...the best advice I can give you is take him to the best vet you possibly can dont just go to your normal vet .....my vet who I rat e highly adviced me to take him to who was considered the best orthapedic vet in the country ...the vet viewed the xray and said theres a high possibility the dog wouldnt be able to walk never mind run but the dog had gave me everything so imo the dog deserved given a chance ...he got 3 pins in his hok and was in a cast and pain killers for 6 weeks and not walked for 3 months then it was a very slow recovery proccess building the dog up until I was happy he was strong enough to go .

the pic above was his first go at quarry and if you look at the ground it was hard going but you cant wrap the,m up in cotton wool there here to be grafted so it was make or break for him and he came through undamaged and has never looked back ....so if you realy think the dog is worth giveing a chance there is hope so go for it and good luck with your hound

My mates dog broke it's leg in 3 places, was pinned back together, confined to a crate only allowed out for the toilet, lead walked for 2-3 months, and you would never know apart fro the mars bar the length of his leg, it cost him a lot of money but he wouldn't have done it any other way!

As moo said, a good vet is worth his weight in gold.

my father had a lurcher bitch given to him that had broken two legs at different times a good 20 odd years ago. she had pins in the one leg which was broke when we got her. the vet said in his opinion she wouldnt be able to work again, that bitch died of old age and went on to have a perfectly acceptable working life.

time patients and effort can sometimes reward you with a good repair of injurys.
