BEARINATOR 2,867
No mate, it will come in time Quote Link to post
shropshire-lad 9
so just keep walking her what about the lamping and marking hole ?? Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
for variety at that age i like retrieving in the dark i believe it helps them pick up sitters later on, don't encourage marking it's too easy to encourage false marking, i'm a big fan of 'stay' a really handy command but don't overdo it they don't like it too much, if youv'e started her jumping keep the sessions short and the hurdles low wer'e looking for a command and an action height will come soon enough good luck with her she sounds the part, what about a pic or two Quote Link to post
shropshire-lad 9
I have been trying to get one up the only one i have is the dp pic. she jumped on her own. As i made a 4 ft picket fence and she jumps it to get in as i made it to keep her out but it don't work i just don't wont a dog that's not going to run as i do alot of ferreting and coursing with friends Quote Link to post
BEARINATOR 2,867
As BirdDog said don't encourage her to mark, she will do it naturally after a few rabbits BUT it's up to you to learn her marking style . She has sight hound blood in her so the chase instinct will be there and when she starts chasing you won't be able to stop her Quote Link to post

shropshire-lad 9
Ok just ppls say stat them young or you will regret it. When she is ready to mark how do i go about showing her, she loves to chasing duck this is the 1st hunting dog i have had, i only stated ferreting last year.So it all new but i am giving 110% Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
no dog was ever spoiled by late starting but plenty are ruined by starting too young, i know it's hard but a long time ago i was young with my first lurcher but i had an older wiser mentor who kept my brakes on, be cool you and your pup have years together. like 'bearinater' says as she progresses she will begin to mark herself its up to you to recognise her body language, some are head down the hole types, others whine, some point, others scratch the ground i have one who wags her tail their all different, watch her hunt, watch what happens when you put a bunny to ground you'll learn what her signs are. 4 Quote Link to post
