beast 1,884
yeah you can overfeed and they will get fat, try to judge by the look of your dog when he is resting (summer) or in work (winter), and compare it to other dogs you see. weigh him regularly and you will gradually learn how much meat vs exercise will keep him looking and running right, and get a record of how heavy he is when he is working at his best. you will soon get an idea of how much he needs. remember that different meat is different nutritional value, i give mine mostly rabbit and chicken in the summer and mostly beef, lamb, venison in the winter plus horse meat when its really cold as its generally fatty to keep them warm.
Attack Fell Terrier 864
Well the reason I am asking this is be cuz I am a butcher and I give him mean most nights and can yu give them to much or not Most nights my lurcher gets 2 Chicken carcass' and half a pound of minced tripe, I'll also add a spoonfull of cod liver oil twice a week and will throw in a bit of heart a couple of times a week as well. Sometimes I replace the codliver oil with a handfull of sprats. He gets meaty bones a couple of times a week most weeks as well. With the exercise I give him he looks well on it. What do you guys think of this ? Thanks joe I forgot to mention that I also pour the left over water from boiling the veg for our own meals during the week as well. He needs bones in that diet as well mate. Bones are a dogs source of calcium for healthy strong bones. Give Chicken wings Necks or legs rather than just the breast mate. Attack Fell Terrier 864
Lmao thank he is my pride and joy and I am a butcher and he as lamb shanks and beef marrow but just latey flus have been Putin maggot eggs on his bones ? Wound yu leave them or chuck them ! And what else them in stead of liver ? Why not leave him with the bone for a hour or two then wrap it up in a bag and put it in the fridge for the day after? The dog 100% needs bone in his diet mate, no good having strong muscles and weak bones. If you're a butcher you should give him a mixture of everything but make sure he gets plenty of bone in his diet to go with the meat and fat.
