When someone sells a cure all for skin problems, which have such a wide range of causes, then its time to get a pinch of salt

I worry about companies depending on dodgy adverts to sell their products. Their add shows an Alsatian type with a bad flea allergy then another pic much improved after treatment, what they fail to explain was that the dog was treated for fleas and as anyone who has seen this once the fleas are dealt with the skin/coat recovers very quickly. They suggest that it was their ointment that brought about the cure which is a bit dodgy.

I’ve emailed them in the past to ask about active ingredients etc and they didn’t reply again not inspiring belief, I’d guess its liquid paraffin. It may well act as an emollient and so give a little moisture to inflamed skin but otherwise? If it has a sulphur element it may have an effect on some conditions but one would ask how much and if that would be appropriate in general use?

Diprobase emollient which is basically liquid paraffin/white soft paraffin would be a good choice in these situations. http://www.diprobase.co.uk/hcp/range/ointment.php.
