mooster 1
Be honest and never pretend to know someting you don't. Get them to find answers for themselves and avoid pretending to know all the answers! Chill out as this will rub off on your ferrets and the young farmers. Quote Link to post

Hob&Jill 258
Make sure the Ferrets your using are 100% freindly. I recently showed my Ferrets at a Nursery, just as my Dad did when I was in Nursery, all went well luckily one little guy there was braver than me, holding it up to his nose etc (Im cringing inside lol) Although my Ferrets are both 100% imagine the situation.... Amy picked her up, and before i could say anything, she had Lucky on her shoulder i was poised in the "ready to swiftly remove ferret from best friends nose" position, when Lucky proceeded to lick amy's cheek! damn, was i relieved! yup, make sure your ferts are friendly, and the batteries in your finder (if you use one) are full! and don't forget to have a pen & paper handy, for giving out your phone number Quote Link to post

Guest Ditch_Shitter
Be sure to take a relaxed sense of humour with ye. Look on it as a day out, doing what ye do, only with others around ye. No need to bring self importance along ~ he'll already be there, in the group. Once ye have his number, concentrate on those who obviously, genuinely want to find out what ye get up to. And that's what you're there for. To show them what You do. Ye haven't written the book and niether will anyone else there have. Get any real shit and be prepared to openly and smilingly suggest the idiot concerned book his own demonstration, so you too can attend and learn how He does it. Try to keep an eye on the group. Read them as best ye can. If ye do something and tell them it matters, to your way of thinking, ask them if what ye did is clear to all. At the same time, try not to let any segment of what ye doing get too long so as to lose their focus. That happens, they'll start murmering amongst themselves and ye'd might all as well f*ck off home. If ye to do any actual ferreting (Nightmare scenario; Gang of young blokes all over the place) then explain what's to be done and why before ye set out. Recapping at the gate. If ye going to let them handle ye ferrets, explain first How ye like ye ferrets handled. None of this fast and tight neck snatching shit. But, equelly, clearly state that if they take up ferreting themselves, they Will end up handling other peoples, strange, ferrets. Point out also that - ferrets being ferrets - an unprecedented bite is always an unthinkably unlikely possibility. Even yours could take it into their heads to break the habit of a lifetime and bite one of them - as could Any ferret ever born. Suggest they all wash their hands - if possible - before the handling bit (Ye never know what those guys might have been touching and still smell of ) - and state that All handling of ye ferrets is at Their own personal wish and risk. Tell them to use common sense and not let the ferrets faces near theirs. (Where does that sort of sillyness come into a days ferreting, after all?) Make damn sure everyone understands that point. Then relax completely and let them do pretty much as they see fit. End with the usual question; " Any Questions? " and be prepared to stick to shandy if ye end up in a pub. They're quite likely to be a year or so older than yeself and so more used to the booze. Either way, stay 'in character' to the end. Don't let a pint too many let ye down in front of them. Pen and paper? Get some card and print yeself some simple business cards. Or else find one of these machines in the precints that do it for ye. Invite them to take two ~ one to pass on to a friend Most of all: Come back and let us all know how it went Quote Link to post
