I probably enjoy the whippets more than i did the lurchers i kept before them, however i think you have to put alot more into the whippets than you do lurchers to get them how you want them to be. Tra

BTR1083, I respect your opinion, but with all due respect, you say you are "the younger generation", have you any experience with lamping dogs ? I ask this, because just about every dog I have owned h

i have a lurcher that works the lamp off the lead, stays at heel till sent on, the same bitch works cover like a spaniel maybe a bit big but she goes where she can, as a rule i can keep her within sho

whippets are nice wee dogs, i like em, can be very entertaining an certainly catch bunnys, but i must admit when it comes to the lamping game i much prefer a lurcher, i have had some good nites out with a whippet at heel an a lamp in hand, but i must admit i got sick a having to go home an knowing there was still land an bunnys to be had, 20 odd bunnys is a very good nite on the lamp with a whippet where i am, but you can an wil double that with a decent lurcher..

would i keep pure whippets for the ferreting game?? i doubt it, as these days i also like me lurchers to ferret, but who knows what the future holds :thumbs:

had whippet greyhound type but not pure whipps a bit small and wrist and stoppers could get hurt ,if you work them alot on dry arable land ,but grassy land be fine at times,

What do you mean "they dont have any lasting though do they?"

Have you got 3 dogs then? The 2 being trained and the good lamp bitch you mentioned on the golf course thread?

All the best

there is and there isnt ,,,i bet that didnt make sence lol

if u put a 23inch 3/4 whip to 1/4 grey ,,,to say a full grey 26inch,,,,most will fall in that height range ect

but when u put a 18 inch to a say 25/26 inch whip/grey or greyhound again,,,well , they will be alot,,,size diffrence,,,best way out off this happening,,,as this breeding happens alot,,,is to see both parents before taking a pup

but there always a risk when picking a whip/grey as some will throw more towards the whippet,,,but if both parents have the height ,,,chances are less ,,ect

for rabbits ,,,20/21inch ,,,brillant,,,, ,,,abit more as if ya like and keeping rabbits on menu ,,,23inch or there about perfect
