Bags instead of boxes?

Recommended Posts

Ive been starting to spend a lot of time cycling lately with the collie whippet and have been thinking of going ferreting with just my bike lurcher and ferret, thing is how do I bring my ferret along as I sold my ferret box couple of years back when I quit ferreting and unless someone can find a way to make a ferret box that fixes securely onto my bike it would be a rough old journey for my poor stinker

So im thinking a pannier or backpack might be a better job with an old teatowel at bottom for my stinker to sleep in while I get to my permission and rough ground where the local shooters dont know about

Thoughts anyone?

When I started years ago I just used a Bank bag, tied it at the top and popped it in my pocket, with half a dozen nets, and a lurcher dog, no spade, probes, or stop nets, just traveled light, went anywhere, and if i got a pair i was happy,

now with all equipment, you would think i was on an African hunting expedition.

Them cases that women put all thier makeup in (vanity case).

some of em are quite well lined with plastic etc etc...big enough for 1 fert...drill a few holes in plastic...They will easily fit in a small rucksack.

or an old cloth bank bag and some string...But if you fall offf the bike...god help the ferret.

i wouldnt put a ferret into a bag, pocket. if you fall over/fall off your bike that ferret could be easily crushed, make a small box to put inside of a bag, that would be alot safer and probably the better option, or a bowback ferret box

I agree. If you came off your bike or get knocked off then would crush them. Maybe a large walking Rucksack, could put the ferret box inside and could fit a spade in too.

I have a rack on the back of my bike I can carry loads in a strong bag(similar to the large lidl bags) strapped on with elastics. Can carry more like that, than I can on my back.
