Ive never really understood why some folk get so wrapped up in wanting to change what other people think......if someones not into hunting then why do you care what they think.....all this " we "....i

Well, I've only just seen this thread, so I'm a bit in the dark about what was originally posted. If someone did contact members on here with a view to doing some interviews, I'm bloody annoyed that

Seems load of you are under the impression that you matter !!!......face facts, most of the voting public think a dog lifting a bunny is cruel and barbaric. They make up most of the votes and the vie

We need to make our own programmes and sell them to mainstream tv channels. The more hunting is seen on telly then people become less shocked by it and then hopefully start to realise its worth and reason for existing.

Interesting reading everyones thoughts. I agree with wilf and gnash on this one. Skycat, you sound more annoyed at missing out on the chance of self promotion than defending our way of like, might be wrong but that's how your posts come over. As regards to changing public opininon, your average Joe public has mostly seen rabbits in pets at home and deer in the film Bambi. Your not going to get there vote. 1/2 think they are fluffy and cute the other 1/2 don't care so it's a no win. Any bad publicity the antis have had has been brought on themselves. As regards to dogmen, we are seen as the lowest of the low in fieldsports. Not by the public but by our so called fellow hunters. The shooting fraternity turned their back on us, like wise the fisherman. If we can't even win their support what chance do we have with mrs Smith?

Keep hearing this dogmen lowest of the low, well I also used to think like that. However the amount of times I've been stopped by ordinary everyday folk, who give it the usual "oh I love they dogs, there so affection" blah blah blah!

Then more than always say do you go after hares and stuff!

Then seem genuinely Suprised when you say no it's illegal .

Normally they walk away muttering obcenties towards the governent Abd shaking thier head.

I think the ones who think we are the lowest of the low more, are unfortunaetly by the Lads who we share our pastime with. Granted going by some of the posts I used to read on here it's of no great suprise we are thought that way by some.

Remember, the waterloo cup at its hieght of popularity had to lay on special trains from London there were that many spectators. The media shapes public opinion.

Yes but what % of the hunting fraternity was ever about " a spectator sport "......im sure the majority of die hard hunters would sacrifice a " sporting event " to quietly go about their business..................meaning public opinion is neither here nor there.

Id guess and say that the 'spectator fieldsports' are in the minority (a low percentage), but that minority are so visible aswell as carried the huge burden heavily associated with the class system, easy targets.. In comparison to the lad with a little lurcher, box of ferrets and a few nets, a couple of lads walking big fields with their longdogs, etc.

Ive always had the feeling the majority of die hard hunting enthusiasts would stand by the big sporting events. The same die hard hunting folk probably dont care too much for public opinion, just want to go about the business in their own way respectful lawful way. & not be governed by laws that are bought.

I think most of us would rather our hunting remain away from prying eyes but the fact is that the antis have takin it mainstream and are using all the available medias (TV RADIO INTERNET PRESS) and sadly we have to respond in kind in order to give the masses a truer more balanced picture of what hunting is all about.
