Whilst Im no supporter of the BBC the guy asked for input in a potential documentry about hunting dogs, telling him to F**k Off may not be the best way to handle it

Imagine if the program is made when the journalist says "we approached one of the countrys main hunting fraternitys THL and were met with verbal abuse and told to.....off " The BBC and their tree hugging antis would just love that wouldnt they :hmm:

again i repeat all orginisations have baggage if the thread had run its course yes some would have lowerd the tone but some would have given a good account of them selves

I know mate but he wasnt after a debate just contacts to give the side of hunting dogs. Yes I am not green enough to think this guy was wanting to shine a light on the field sports community and may have had an underlying agenda to screw us but who knows eh?

Ive never really understood why some folk get so wrapped up in wanting to change what other people think......if someones not into hunting then why do you care what they think.....all this " we "....i

Well, I've only just seen this thread, so I'm a bit in the dark about what was originally posted. If someone did contact members on here with a view to doing some interviews, I'm bloody annoyed that

Seems load of you are under the impression that you matter !!!......face facts, most of the voting public think a dog lifting a bunny is cruel and barbaric. They make up most of the votes and the vie

He was given a fcuk off tablet and he was given plenty of explanations why. The thread should have stayed up, so if and when this program goes out and mentions the responce he was given here, then freethinkers can come and see for themselves what was what. But no, some cur thought it best to sweep it under the carpet......

Youd be naive to be thinking otherwise.

Its the first time I have seen anyone post on here from the BBC, normally they contact via email. I've had heaps over the years.

Personally he was probably just looking for info, and was genuine enough. They have ranged from wanting people for reality TV shows, to numerous documentaries with Martin Clunes like this http://www.smithsoni...w.do?series=714

I know people are paranoid and hateful of how the hunting community has been represented...I think someone who is level headed and keeps himself on track, so we cannot be misrepresented would do hunting the world of good, especially if it were involving someone who was pro hunting and trustworthy amongst us.. But I understand everyones distrust, its only natural considering the media and previous footage shown..

Probably Paulus, we can live in hope though, that one day some sensible pro hunting footage would be shown..

Well, I've only just seen this thread, so I'm a bit in the dark about what was originally posted. If someone did contact members on here with a view to doing some interviews, I'm bloody annoyed that I didn't get the chance to say something.

As hunters in a modern society, we owe it to ourselves to portray us in the best possible light. Yes, there are always rotten apples to spoil every barrel, on both sides of the fence, but Jeez! what a wasted and golden opportunity to be able to put our side of the story,.

BBC Look East contacted me years ago when we were all doing marches and protests against the impending ban. They came and filmed me and Andy out ferreting, and interviewed me. They certainly showed no bias or prejudice at all in the short clip they showed on Look East a couple of days later, and we were able to show how lurchers could help with pest control legitimately. The interviewer even went home with a couple of oven ready rabbits!

I'd welcome the opportunity to speak again for its only by showing ourselves to be sensible and dedicated to our way of life that we have any chance of ridding ourselves of the bad labels which some people give us. OK, so most people on here wouldn't even give an interviewer the time of day, but get real: if we want to show ourselves to be a positive force for dog work, then telling someone to f*ck off is hardly going to make others think that we are anything but a bunch of idiots.

Reasoned debate might not be some people's strong point, but from the posts I read on here from time to time, there are plenty of people who have both the words and the ability to put our case forward in the best possible way.

Also, since the ban I've realised what it must be like to be the target of racist attacks, for that is exactly what is happening to working dog people all over the country now, with the general public whipped into a state of hysteria each time they see someone out working a lurcher. I've even been accused of hare coursing whilst out ferreting! So wouldn't it be good to be able to diffuse the fog of misunderstanding, and at the same time, deflect some of that unwanted, unjust and irrational hatred, which would thereby give working dog men and women more chance to go about their business without being the target of so much unwarranted attention! Think about it.
