k.andy12345 15
Quick question. Just got a new 12x6 kennel. The company says that it's pressure treated wood so doesn't need painting. Just that it looks rather 'bare' wood and open to the elements. This is the first new kennel I have bought, all my others have been second hand and painted. Question is, do I need to paint it? Treat it or anything else? Would like to know before I put it together. Or will it be fine as it is? Thnx
scothunter 12,609
Dunno mate , but I heard in the states there was a health risk very high levels of arsenic. Not trying to scare to mate, our laws are prob different. But defo worth checking for piece of mind.
Rhodey 96
Pressure treated timber still needs protecting, or it won't last very long.

All fencing materials are pressured treated and you'll get 20 years from a fence without painting. Of course painting it would help now and again, maybe every 5 years...
