Rabbithunter 456
Just got a price for my extension. Its approx 3.5m x 6m 2story. no face brick (pebble dash at later stage) So my price for the 'shell' & roof, all groundworks &drains.... Was £18500 Does this sound reasonable, and anybody in cumbria think they can beat it? Cheers

But you've footings to dig to the clay ? However far down that is, certain contractors charge extortionate prices after 6ft. Then there's concreting and building the found to the questionable level ???? Either way. I'd get at least 6 other quotes Barr that one. Only a fool would pay that doe for an extension. Do u watch cowboy builders ? Lol
Rabbithunter 456
Cheers lads il ask for few more prices..... MUDD do you think that price is ott then? Can find clay wothin 3 foot here mate as I found out while doing dogrun drains!
keepitcovert 842
Why not buy the materials yourself and get some reputable subcontractors, can be an expensive buisness just to get to dpc. The easy part would be to build a block shell decent brickie would piss that in a week, that price on the info youve provided seems slightly over the top, but without seeing the drawings its a bit like how long is a piece of string. dillydog 8,469
Got subies in myself, i had three different quotes and all of them came in at 20k just for the shell with facing brick. Got the whole thing done for 12k and got all windows and doors in to make it water tight. Your quote sounds way to much for basic block work, and most council inspectors make you take the footings down to solid natural ground IE clay, if you've got good clay at three foot then you shouldn't have to go any deeper. My footing were 1 meter deep with a nine inch concrete slab. The three brickies that gave me the quotes all worked out how many bricks i'de need and all of them came in at roughly the same amount. Even the subie i had build it said the same amount, i got them in and did the extention and had so many bricks left over at the end i had another extention built
