Not sure what that is supposed to achieve. Is it nature yet again thwarting man's greed and desires? Of course! Let's declare war upon that species eradicate them all for whatever reason we contrive.

Then get all upset with the repercussions and blame everyone else....

Same face, different mask.

Who wants to eradicate seals? No one does, it's the same argument with any agricultural pest, it's about management surely? Just calm down a bit with your hatred of all man kind, lol. If you use the actions of a tiny minority to tar all of man kind then you are no better than all the animal rights activists.

No sympathy for them, nothing but vermin, its crawling with them here carnt even pull a fish in with out them taken it.

What about the people who rely on the tourism to go and see them? I have been on the little boat trips myself and I hardly get the impression the coastline is overwhelmed with too many seals. Just more fecking greed, people won't be satisfied until the seas are empty and we have to start eating money...

they were there before us also but mankind thinks they can take anything they want with no regards to the damage thrust upon the rest of those depending on it .the seals are reduced to becoming oppertunist feeders due to the loss of their natural food from over fishing.that of course derives a very normal reaction by someone to nail their heads to the gates of a seal sanctuary,of course it does. :nono:

"Who wants to eradicate seals? No one does"

Really? The evidence shown in those photos begs to differ. Some would like them gone.

"If you use the actions of a tiny minority to tar all of man kind..."

The actions of the few are already affecting the many. Only a few are slashing and burning rainforests. Only a few are poisoning the oceans. Only a few engineer chemicals and poisons.

I grant you, my statement was a bit OTT but sadly not too far from the truth. It's not hatred of my kind, disbelief and sadness is more accurate.

The 'evidence' in those photos is the action of one person who quite clearly wants a cull. The word cull was used not extinction or eradication etc. It's the actions of a very desperate and quite possibly somewhat perverse indivual. My point was, that an objective argument for a cull should not have anything to do with this event as it's clearly just simply a wildlife crime by a pretty sick individual.

You cannot compare deforestation and major damage to diverse ecosystems to any form of pest management. The things you talk of are unsustainable and WILL have world wide consiquences. If any deforestation was carried out with a sustainable management plan then you would'nt have even mentioned it. That's the difference between pest management and eradication.

I, as do many, ocassionally feel despair with the actions of humans, our competative/adaptive spirit that put us at the top of the pyramid can also be our curse. BUT, I'm not going to tell a man who wants to achieve more in life he should'nt incase it upsets someone. Like I said, the question of seal population management is no different to any other argricultural pest, the answer will differ on situation and species.

Without getting ensnared in minor details, fundamentally, I agree with you.

I will say that this action, to me, is one manifestation and illustration of our species insane attitude and perspective towards this Earth, our environment.

The funny thing is that Anglers all around the country are protesting against the very same fishermen in Kerry using driftnets that are cleaning out breeding stock heading back to to lakes and rivers in the SW.

i was talking about shore anglers drift netting has had a horrible impact on fishing it was a terrible thing

the person did with those seals might get caught 7000 euro is on his head by the animal rights

i like to see seals my self but they are top of the food chain as so is mr fox and some people want to

protect it. right or wrong some one over stepped the line doing that
