derbylad1 293
Depends on a few things really mate. Her breeding, because certain breeds mature physically and mentally quicker than others. The land you run on, if its the sort thats hammered by others out and the rabbits are lamp shy, this will make it harder for the young bitch to catch. And some land is quite hard for dogs to catch rabbits full stop (ie golf course). When you do start( and only you know when will be best), then little at a time, try and find easy rabbits and make it fun. If you find after a few runs she is struggling, sack it!! and try again when she is little stronger. Also, if she does catch (i know its feckin amazing!!) then stop, plenty of praise, lead on and go home ending on a high. Its al about building the confidence, you are not testing her at this stage, just giving her a bit of guidance of what the lamping game is all about. Do you have anyone in the area that can show you the ropes? Either way all the best with her and take ya time. Ask questions on here, because someone will always give you the answers and help from their own experiences. 2 Quote Link to post
